Nowadays fast moving era of technology moves a world and changes rules on established markets. It is almost unreal. A typical example is the current destroy of classic taxi (mafia) market in Prague and via the world of global company UBER Czech Republic and their clones.
UBER is something like McDonald’s in the taxi. In each city the same standard. I get off in Singapore at the airport and I know, what to expect.
I have the application on your phone, I do not pay cash – nobody can give me the high price, the way of GPS is registered, I see on the map, how far exactly my taxi, he see exactly me, everything is recorded on the server, safe, etc.
And best part is, that this business is not primarily about somebody somewhere tote (taxi), but it is about those DATA. UBER is supported by Google and that means the unlimited capital. For current global companies are the most valuable data. I have already gone for several times with UBER via Prague and now they sent me the info about messages, they resold my data. All is based on the fact, that they make the entire market more efficient thanks to the streamline and taxis will run at least empty. It is WIN – WIN for users and innovative companies, then the clear defeat for existing non-innovative “bucket” at the wheel.
Another great thing is, how UBER does marketing. They make it current taxi drivers by themself, who rebel and do protests in all European cities. It is then all in the media and this negative advertising works well, because the customer does not care about the classic taxi driver has nothing to eat, but the value of service for him. This fight can not win even though a cab lobby is very strong and should be in Brussels UBER actually banned.
The European Commission wants to ban the monopoly in Google search, it makes no sense, but that is another topic. Technology has never been prohibited anywhere by anybody, here decide only and only users, who will or will not use.
